Tips for vacation on Sylt with dogs

There is nothing better than spending a vacation on an island with your dog. Walking together, romping on the beach, jumping into the water and resting in the sun or sitting in front of the warming fireplace in winter. Sylt is suitable for a visit with a dog at any time of the year.

For the summer there are many designated dog beaches and in the off-season from November to March your dog is even allowed to run free on all beaches of Sylt.
Because we do not want to deny this happiness to anyone, we are a dog-friendly accommodation: in our hotel in Rantum dogs are welcome! Located directly in the dunes, it is an excellent starting point for small and large walks on the island.

Rantum Tadjemdeel

The beach Tadjemdeel (section 5.51) is reached through the dunes. A parking lot is located directly behind the exit of Rantum.

Rantum Baakdeel

The beach access Baakdeel (section 5.11.1) is located directly at the parking lot of the same name. Horses are also allowed on this beach.

Rantum Campingplatz

The beach at the campsite (section 5.12) can also be reached by bus (line 2, Rantum campsite).

Dogs welcome at Hotel Duene

Whether small or large: We look forward to you and your four-legged friend and prepare your room accordingly! You can expect a dog towel and a small bowl for your darling. Hotel Duene has spacious rooms, apartments and suites where your dog can also find a place. In the accommodation description you can see if the chosen accommodation is at ground level and has a terrace. This way you can avoid unnecessary walking up and down stairs. Also for breakfast your darling may accompany you of course.

A fenced exercise area for all dogs with hunting instinct is located right next to the airport Westerland. There is a parking lot right next to the area.
The Restaurant Coast in Rantum is a warm recommendation for fine food from land and sea and also welcomes dogs.

Tips for vacation with dog

If you travel with a dog, you also have to pack for your pet. It is advisable to take a foldable travel bowl with you to be able to supply your dog with fresh water at any time. For dogs that are not one hundred percent recallable, drag leash and harness offer a good opportunity for sufficient free running on the beach. But be careful when using the tow line: get dog trainers to teach you beforehand!
If your dog stays alone in the hotel room, signal to the cleaning staff with a sign that there is a dog in the room. This will save surprises for both man and dog.
